Columbia’s Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute (Zuckerman Institute) brings together an extraordinary group of world-class scientists into the Jerome L. Greene Science Center, a state-of-the-art facility, to transform our understanding of the brain and mind.
The Salzman lab within the Zuckerman Institute is seeking a Staff Associate to study multiple aspects of cognition and emotional regulation. The Staff Associate will help implement and conduct studies in electrophysiology. Most of the duties will be related to animal training, but the Staff Associate will also provide assistance in more invasive procedures such as electrophysiological recordings. In addition, the Staff Associate will assist the investigator in research activities and carry out assigned laboratory duties according to standard and specified procedures such as daily care for the animal’s health. The Staff Associate will also have the opportunity to co-author publications and contribute to poster presentations and will be involved in data analysis and pre-processing of neuronal data.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or Physics or related science.
Two years of previous experience with computational competency, or previous experience working within a wet lab and/or with basic science preparations are highly desirable. Qualified candidates must be capable of working independently on husbandry and training duties, once instructed. Ability to work in an organized manner in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures.
