The Faculty of Medicine of Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany, invites applications for the following position
Professorship in Anatomy (W3)
at Dr. Senckenberg Anatomy as civil servant or public employee, starting 1st April, 2020.
The Faculty of Medicine is seeking an exceptional candidate to be appointed Director of the Anatomical Institute II.
We expect the successful candidate to be an internationally recognized leader in the field of Anatomy. Participation in teaching (in German) of all areas of Anatomy for medical and dentistry students is mandatory, commitment to further develop the Anatomy curriculum is encouraged. The position also carries the responsibility for the Prosector and body donation programs.
Major areas of research at Goethe University Medical School are cardiovascular research, neuroscience, oncology, immunology, and translational pharmacology. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the neuroscience research focus and actively participate in at least one additional scientific focus area. Active participation in the medical faculty’s research networks (Collaborative Research Centers, Graduate Colleges) is also strongly encouraged. Expertise in innovative imaging techniques and microscopy methods is desirable.
Prerequisites for a successful application are a university degree in Medicine or biomedicine-related natural sciences, a doctoral degree and additional postdoctoral qualifications. Candidates should possess the venia legendi (“Habilitation”) in Anatomy or an equivalent teaching qualification in Anatomy. An excellent publication record and outstanding reputation in the field of specialty as well as successful acquisition of third party funding are expected. Longstanding experience in the teaching of anatomy, in particular gross anatomy, histology and neuroanatomy are requirements.
The salary for the position is based on “W3” on the German university scale.
