Postdoctoral Position in Community Ecotoxicology

The position is part of the interdisciplinary Eawag─funded project EcoImpact 2.0. This project investigates how stream biofilms respond to exposure of micropollutants from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), and whether such responses can be implemented in practice for evaluating the success of additional treatment steps to improve micropollutant removal. These questions will be addressed in controlled flume experiments using waste water effluent and directly on-site at WWTPs.

The project is led by an interdisciplinary team, bringing together natural scientists and engineers with different backgrounds. This position can start as soon as possible; the overall project duration is three years.

We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist who takes responsibility for the planning and execution of laboratory and field experiments with respect to biofilm exposure and response, from molecular to community level effects. We expect you to have a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Ecology or a related field, have experience with indoor and/or outdoor experimental systems for studying impacts on communities and thrive in interdisciplinary research. Familiarity with periphyton would be an asset.
