The University of Bristol are looking to appoint a research associate for a postdoctoral position in the group of Prof. A. P. Davis, on the MRC-funded project:

 

“Anion Carriers for Channel Replacement Therapy”.

 

The role is part of a collaborative programme involving Prof. D. N. Sheppard (University of Bristol Physiology and Pharmacology) and Prof. P. A. Gale (University of Sydney, Australia). The aim is to demonstrate the potential of transmembrane anion carriers as treatments for channelopathy conditions such as cystic fibrosis.

 

The research will involve the design and synthesis of anion carriers for biological testing, as well as studies towards a comprehensive understanding of their mechanism of action.

 

Applicants should possess expertise in organic synthesis and measurement aspects of supramolecular chemistry.  Experience working with bilayer membranes (e.g. vesicles) would be an advantage.
