Academic Genitourinary Pathologist
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (USA). The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan Health System) is seeking a surgical pathologist with subspecialty training and expertise in genitourinary pathology. Our active GU pathology service annually accessions nearly 4,000 biopsy and surgical cases and over 2,000 extramural consultations. Our clinical GU Pathology Fellowship attracts nationally competitive candidates.
The successful candidate will have completed a GU Pathology Fellowship or the equivalent, and have a track record of peer-reviewed publications in GU pathology. Excellent diagnostic skills appropriate to tertiary level subspecialty GU sign-out, effective communication skills, a commitment to excellent patient care, a quest for discovery and a passion for teaching are required.
The Department of Pathology at Michigan has over 205 faculty members with extramural research support totaling nearly $23 million dollars, which ranks 8th in NIH funding nationally. State-of-the-art research laboratories, a large community of investigators committed to team science, and a diverse, world-class medical center contribute to a nurturing and supportive environment. The Division of Anatomic Pathology itself employs over 70 faculty members and had research expenditures totaling over $9.3 million dollars last year. In addition, AP provides project funding using a novel mechanism intended to support and facilitate faculty research (McDaniel et al. Funding anatomic pathology research: A retrospective analysis of an intramural funding mechanism. Arch Pathol Lab Med2013; 137: 1270).
