As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) is located at the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich. The institute is focused on the development of personalized preventive and therapeutic strategies for diabetes and obesity. Scientists of many nationalities conduct research at the IDO allowing for a diverse approach to the contemporary field.

The main focus of the Genetics Group is the development of mouse models for an improved understanding of the specific gene function in humans in relation to metabolic disease. We are utilizing both standard approaches (embryonic stem cell) and cutting-edge technologies (CRISPR-Cas9 system) for the generation of genetically engineered mice or cell lines. We are also interested in improving the efficiencies of transgenic technologies, as well as genome and regenerative therapy. Furthermore, the group also provides considerable expertise in the area of mouse genetics. 

We are looking for a highly motivated

Research Technician - MTA/BTA Genetics Group (f/m/diverse)

Job Description
Mice embryos manipulation and microinjection
- Handling and breeding of transgenic mice
- Performance of molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning)
- Performance of assisted reproductive techniques
- Cell culture work
- Flexibility in working hours
- Documentation of results and processes in English

Your Qualifications
- Education as a research technician (BTA, MTA) or an equivalent degree
- Willingness to take charge of organizing the daily lab routine
- High motivation, flexibility and reliability
- Good skills in written and spoken English
- Knowledge of cell culture, embryo manipulation and assisted reproductive techniques is an advantage
