Job description:

As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join our international research team at the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) of the newly established Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) in Munich.

Job Description

Preclinical development and target validation of novel pharmacotherapies to treat diabetes and obesityIndependent drug evaluation in established mouse models of obesity and diabetesGene and protein analyses of target genes in established in vitro and ex vivo systemsAssessment of compound mechanisms using state-of-the art immunohistochemistryGeneration of transgenic mouse models and in vivo assessment of signalling mechanisms implicated in regulation of glucose and energy metabolism

Your Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Biological SciencesSubstantial theoretical and methodological knowledge in diabetes, obesity and metabolism researchSeveral years of experience in working with laboratory miceExcellent cell and molecular biological in vitro skills, including immunohistochemistryIn vivo expertise in measuring glucose and insulin sensitivityOutstanding expertise in blood and tissue analysisHigh motivation, flexibility and innovative and creative thinkingExcellent command of written and spoken English
