As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

Our mission

The lack or dysfunction of insulin-producing ß-cells causes type I or type II diabetes, respectively. The mission of the Institute of Diabetes and Regeneration Research (IDR) is to develop ß-cell replacement and regenerative therapeutic approaches to treat both forms of diabetes.

Job Description

The IDR science management team provides comprehensive administrative support to IDR scientists, giving them room to focus on their full creative potential. The successful candidate will manage intramural projects as well as projects funded by German, European and International agencies. This includes strategic planning, scientific coordination and monitoring of scientific progress as well as the preparation of financial and scientific reports. You will work at the interface with the IDR scientists, the central offices in the administration of the HMGU, external scientific and industrial partners, as well as national and international funding agencies. You will ensure through strategic planning that the quality, regulatory and contractual requirements are met. Furthermore, you will organize and attend scientific project meetings and workshops in Munich and abroad, and support our public relations work.

Your profile

The successful applicant must have the following:

Master degree in natural sciences, preferably with a doctorateFlexible, solution-oriented and independent way of workingExtensive experience in scientific management with a focus on research fund administration and finances and coordination of interdisciplinary research units and pharmaceutical companiesStrong experience in coordination of multi-institutional research platforms and of joint studies between universities and research centres (non-university)Strong organizational and management skillsExperience with independent writing of scientific textsExcellent communication and presentation skillsCollaborative spirit and ability to work on a highly international and interdisciplinary teamFlexible, solution-oriented, and able to work independently Excellent command of German and English in spoken and written form Solid IT skills (MS Office, reference manager, research tools, funding agency portals etc.)Experience in project and quality management (GLP, GCCP, GMP) as well as in editorial work are advantageous.Skills or background in business are an advantage
