A 3 year position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow is available at the newly established Centre of Excellence “Hybrid Technology Hub” at the University of Oslo, Norway. The overall objective of the Hybrid Technology Hub is to develop an “organ on a chip” platform that reproduces core energy metabolism within energy regulating organs of the human body and which will allow real time data acquisition upon exposure to therapeutic tools.
The Center of Excellence “Hybrid Technology Hub” is located at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo, with partners at the University of Glasgow (Prof. Nikolaj Gadegaard) and Imperial College, London (Prof. Molly Stevens).
More about the position
The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a large collaborative interdisciplinary team that consists of basic scientists, clinicians, bioinformaticians, physicists and chemists. The project will complement 2 ongoing projects that are developing 3D organoid models of liver and fat. This project´s core aim is to develop novel approaches to derive functional pancreatic islets in a 3D format using human pluripotent stem cells. This system will be integrated into an organ on a chip platform along with other 3D organoid models currently in development at the Hybrid Technology Hub.
The candidate will be central in developing iPSC derived islet organoids. He or she will work towards high-impact publications; have an eagerness for career development and willingness to spend some research time in the partnering laboratories.
The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.
- Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree with strong research background relevant to the specified fields for the postdoctoral position
- Documented track record of research, evidenced by successful publishing in scientific journals
- Expertise in differentiation and handling of human pluripotent stem cells is absolutely required
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills (English)
- Expertise in genome engineering using CRISPR will be an advantage
- Proven ability to work and collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment
- Scientific creativity and ability to drive own research ideas to a successful conclusion
