The laboratory of Dr. W. K. Eddie Ip at Mayo Clinic is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to study alternations in the interplay between metabolism and innate immune system that occurs with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), following up on our recent studies published in Science and Nature Communication. This includes examinations of cellular metabolic changes in innate immune compartment in gut and the impact of these changes on the mucosal immunity and tissue homeostasis. Successful candidates will use state-of-the-art technologies including single-cell RNA sequencing and mass cytometry (CyTOF) to identify altered metabolic targets in our mouse models of IBD and human IBD samples.

Highly-motivated candidates with a recent PhD or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences, experience in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry and/or mouse modeling are encouraged to apply. Candidates with strong records of scientific accomplishment are preferred. We are seeking a candidate with excellent writing and communication skills, able to work independently.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

Required Skills:
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
