Evotec is a leader in the discovery and development of novel small molecule drugs with operational sites in Europe and the US. The Company has built substantial drug discovery expertise and an industrialized platform that can drive new innovative small molecule compounds into the clinic. In addition, Evotec has built a deep internal knowledge base in the treatment of diseases related to neuroscience, pain, oncology, inflammation and metabolic diseases. Leveraging these skills and expertise, the company intends to develop best-in-class differentiated therapeutics and deliver superior science-driven discovery alliances with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
At our site in Hamburg, Germany, the Target Identification & Biomarker Department are seeking for a highly motivated and dedicated
Research Associate / Research Scientist (f/m/d)
Next Generation Sequencing and/or Nanopore Sequencing
full-time and permanent
Your Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement novel sequencing technologies: You will drive the implementation and development of novel sequencing (NGS) approaches like single cell sequencing and/or drive the implementation of nanopore sequencing. Your „hands-on“ wet lab work is required.
Supervise RNA-sequencing projects in different disease backgrounds: In this activity, your role as a supervisor includes the experimental planning, result interpretation and communication of the results to the client. You assist the respective project managers in the interpretation of the data and propose new experimental directions.
Provide general scientific expertise about molecular biology techniques to junior group members. Collaborate with your team members and improve performance within the team.
Collaborate with our bioinformatics team and our disease biology and drug discovery teams.
Communicate findings and present results internally and externally.
You have completed your Ph.D. in Life Sciences or similar with substantial hands-on experience in executing next generation sequencing or nanopore sequencing projects.
You are a technology-oriented scientist with a strong aptitude for developing and implementing new technologies.
You have profound knowledge in the field of molecular biology and handling of nucleic acids (especially RNA). Further understanding of genetics, epigenetics and techniques to measure cellular analytes complete your profile. Knowledge or experience with the analysis of omics-data (bioinformatics) is a plus, but not required.
Experiences in either laboratory automation, single cell RNA-seq, Ribo-Seq, SLAM-Seq, SHAPE-seq or with nanopore sequencing are a plus.
You are a team worker: collaborative, helpful and reliable.
The position requires fluent command of the English language. Knowledge of German is a plus.
A permanent position within a vigorous and exciting professional environment promoted by an open culture and a spirit of community.
A diverse, international workforce with a dynamic working environment that fosters creativity, innovations and teamwork.
