The NMR laboratory of Magnus Wolf-Watz is searching for a motivated candidate to fill a postdoctoral position in enzyme dynamics. The project is aimed at deciphering the molecular details of enzyme conformational dynamics and the research is built on unpublished observations of both experimental and evolutionary origin. The project will focus on dynamics in the NMP kinase family of enzymes where adenylate kinase is a prevalent member. The research project is based on integrated structural biology and the candidate will collaborate with experts in both crystallography, and computation. The successful candidate should either hold or expect to hold a Ph.D. in the area of biochemistry or structural biology, with expertise in NMR spectroscopy. Extensive experience with protein production and purification is required.
The integrated structural biology community at Umeå universitet is vibrant and has 12 group leaders in NMR, cryo EM , crystallography and computational structural biology (see biostruct.umu.se). We have joint research meetings and the successful candidate will be exposed to all aspects of structural biology work and there exist many opportunities to initiate interdisciplinary collaborations. The NMR facility at the chemistry department is of highest standards and we perform most of our protein work on Bruker 600 and 850 MHz spectrometers both equipped with cold probes. The NMR facility is part of the national Swedish NMR infrastructure (www.nmrforlife.se) and we have permanent staff that provide support for both hard-ware and soft-ware.
