Full Professorship for “Optobiology” (W2)

In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the Requirements of a permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than after four years of service. The professorship will be funded by the „Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses.“ The aim of the programme is to pave the way for a secure career in academia for early stage researchers. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teaching, as well as to be active in various university committees and acquire leadership and management skills. We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding record of independent, laboratory-based research in the area of optobiology, one of the core interests of the institute of biology. The successful candidate will strengthen our research activities in opto biological methods covering the areas such as Neurosciences, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Physics and other photo-biological questions such as photosynthesis.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment for close collaboration with other research initiatives, particularly within the framework of Cluster of Excellence “NeuroCure”, Cluster of Excellence “UniSysCat”, TRR 175 “The Green Hub – Central Coordinator of Acclimation in Plants” or Collaborative Research Centre 1078 “Protonation Dynamics in Protein Function”.
The future holder of the position is expected to teach in our undergraduate and graduate courses. The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 102 c combined with § 100 of the “Berliner Hochschulgesetz”.
