GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerators for science. In the division of “Superconducting Magnets (SCM)” we are looking for an

Electrician or technician (m/f) for the testing of superconducting dipoles

Tasks include:

Execution and follow up of acceptance tests for quality assurance of superconducting magnets. The program includes high voltage tests, continuity tests and tests turn-to-turn insulation by means of capacitor discharge methods.Analysis of measurement results with respect to plausibility and specified parameters.Documentation of measurement results. Coordination of the next steps with the responsible person for testing.Error analysis for the measurement equipment and development of solutions to improve the performance of the equipment.Maintenance of measurement equipment, contributions to further optimization.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

Degree as electrician or technician in the field of electrical engineering or comparable.Background in measurement techniques or metrology. Experience in tests of power electronics or high voltage devices preferable. Experience with data acquisition and methods for data analysis. Background in the handling of complex technical systems.Background or willingness for training in quality assurance and technical project management.Enthusiasm for working in scientific and technical business as well as a high level of motivation for participation in a common project.German and English language fluently spoken and written. Solid background and Experience in MS-Office tools.Willingness for shift work.

The position is initially limited to 3 years. Salary is equivalent to that for public employees as specified in the collective agreement for public employees (TVöD Bund).
