Job Description – Computational Synthetic Biologist

Colorifix is a startup bringing novel, sustainable and environmentally friendly processes to the textile dyeing industry to eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals, and also give large savings in water and energy use. Colorifix has been recognised by winning awards in both synthetic biology and fashion with our technology on public display in the Victoria and Albert museum’s Future of Fashion section of the Fashioned from Nature exhibition.

Role description:
We seek to hire a highly motivated computational synthetic biologist to lead bioinformatics and computational analysis at Colorifix. The work flow includes genetic pathway identification through to the dye characterization on fabric. Relevant experience should ideally include: DNA sequence analysis, gene expression analysis and tool development for genetic circuit design and optimisation. Colorifix is establishing paperless Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) labs, therefore experience in these areas will be an advantage.

Location: Norwich Research Park, Norwich

Qualifications: PhD (or equivalent) in synthetic biology or a relevant subject.

Remuneration: annual salary of GBP £45,000-65,000, depending on level of experience. A stock option scheme will be made available in which the successful candidate will be able to participate.
