Job Description – Synthetic and Microbial Biologist

Colorifix is a startup bringing novel, sustainable and environmentally friendly processes to the textile dyeing industry to eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals, while saving on water and energy. Colorifix has been recognised by winning awards in both synthetic biology and fashion with our technology on public display in the Victoria and Albert museum’s Future of Fashion section of the Fashioned from Nature exhibition.

Role description:
We seek to hire a highly motivated synthetic biologist to lead pigment development at Colorifix. The work flow includes genetic pathway identification through to dye characterization on fabric. Skills should include experience in: genetic circuit design and optimization, DNA assembly and molecular microbiology (bacteria and/or yeast) and ideally bioinformatics. Candidates with a working knowledge of electronic notebooks and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) will be at an advantage, but training will also be provided.

Location: Norwich Research Park, Norwich

Qualifications: PhD (or equivalent) in synthetic biology or a relevant subject.

Remuneration: annual salary of £34,000-42,000, depending on level of experience. A stock option scheme will be made available in which the successful candidate will be able to participate.
