The position seeks to strengthen ongoing activities in the laboratory of Esben Lorentzen aimed at understanding the mechanisms of intraflagellar transport proteins in cilium formation. The laboratory's interest is in understanding how intraflagellar transport proteins assemble into large complexes that actively transport cargo proteins into and out of cilia. The selected candidate will prepare recombinant protein complexes and elucidate their structure and mechanism using crystallography, cryo-EM and biochemistry.

A successful candidate has a relevant Ph.D. degree and a solid and documented background in structural biology, biochemistry and/or biophysics. Experience with protein complex co-expression and purification is a plus. The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is part of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Aarhus University and comprises research within the areas Molecular Medicine, Structural Biology, Systems Biology, Plant Molecular Biology and Quantitative Genetics. Shortlisting is used.
