The Institute for Global Food Security sits within the School of Biological Sciences at Queen’s.
The Institute is leading the world in addressing one of the greatest global challenges – how to ensure the safety of our food.

Our researchers track and prevent contamination of crops, animal feeds and foods. They help detect fraud along the supply chain and develop advanced food provenance systems, help to improve the quality of crops and the health of farm animals and their resistance to disease.

This temporary post is available for 24 months.

The Research Assistant will be an active member of the research team assisting in the planning and delivery of research led by Dr Katrina Campbell at the Institute of Global Food Security within the framework of the H2020 EU project Eurobiotox. This research project is a European Program for the Establishment of Validated Procedures for the Detection and Identification of Biological Toxins.

The successful candidate will have:
- 1st class or 2.1 Degree or equivalent in biochemistry, chemistry or analytical science or related discipline
- Some practical experience in ELISA, LFD and/or biosensor methods, HPLC and/or Mass Spectrometry and the validation of analytical methods

Anticipated interview date: January 2019

Salary scale: £27,831 – £32,236 per annum (potential to progress to £35,210 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
