1. Project Details

Mutations in innate immune pathways can cause serious inflammatory diseases in children (autoinflammatory diseases). In this project we have applied exome sequencing technology to identify novel mutations that cause these diseases. We will now perform functional validation of the mutations using cell biology assays of inflammation and inflammasome activation using CRISPR and other approaches. For recent examples, please see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30038614 and https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29778503.
This project will be conducted within the Guangzhou Institute of Pediatrics (GIP), affiliated with Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center (GWCMC). The primary supervisor will be Professor Dr. Seth Masters.

2. Qualifications

All candidates who have expertise in the following disciplines are encouraged to apply: genetics and genomics, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, immunopathology. Ideal candidates should be highly motivated, collaborative, and have hands-on experience in a related scientific field.
