The College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University (Post Campus) invites applications for a full-time Research Technician position available immediately in the airway inflammation and therapeutics research lab of Omar Tliba, DVM, PhD. The lab research emphasis is the pharmacology and therapeutics of airway diseases. Specifically, the lab focuses on themes of airway biology, corticosteroid resistance, glucocorticoid signaling, and cytokine networks in airway cells and precision medicine (Durham A et al., Curr Pharm Des. 2011). The lab uses a wide variety of approaches and models to study glucocorticoid signaling, airway cell biology and pro-inflammatory cytokine gene expression.
• Perform western blot analysis.
• Perform DNA and RNA isolations, PCR, and qPCR.
• Perform cell culture.
• Assist with animal husbandry as needed.
• Maintain a daily log of experiments.
• Ordering supplies and assist in organization and day-to-day lab operations.
Qualifications: BA or BS in Biology or related life sciences and a minimum of 0 to 1 year of research experience. Required skills: Previous experience working with cell culture, qPCR, and/or western blot is preferred; ability to troubleshoot to acquire the best experimental conditions; excellent written and oral communication skills and multi-tasking, time management, and organization.
