Applications are invited for a senior research officer post to join a cross-disciplinary drug discovery group focussed on developing new therapies for neurodegenerative disorders. Located within the School of Medicine, University of Edinburgh, the successful candidate will play a key role in a cross-institute drug discovery initiative which represents a collaboration between the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, the Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences and the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine. They will work in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment using state-of-the-art cell biology and imaging techniques to advance phenotypic screening and drug discovery in neurodegenerative disease. The postholder will be responsible for compound management, cell-based assay development, compound library screening and record keeping in the form of regular written reports and lab notebooks.
The successful candidate will have significant laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture techniques, cellular pharmacology and chemical library screening including use of robotic liquid handling systems. Further expertise in automated high content fluorescent imaging and image-analysis are desirable.
This funding for the current post is until February 2021 in the first instance.
