The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Grove School of Engineering at the City College of New York (CCNY) of the City University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. Preference will be given to candidates with research and teaching expertise in the areas of biomaterials, drug delivery, or cell and tissue engineering. Collaboration potential with major department research concentrations is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized program of sponsored research as well as teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and have an understanding of diversity issues and their educational importance. The new faculty will also share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. It is expected that appointment will be made at the level of Assistant Professor, although outstanding Associate Professor level candidates will be considered.
The research environment in the CCNY Biomedical Engineering department is very strong, with departmental strengths in the areas of tissue engineering-biomaterials, cardiovascular engineering, musculoskeletal engineering and neural engineering. The National Research Council ranks the CCNY Biomedical Engineering department as #1 in the nation in diversity. Additional information on the department can be found at www.ccny.cuny.edu/bme. Candidates must hold a PhD or an equivalent degree in the relevant field or a closely related field. Also required are demonstrated achievement in targeted research areas and the ability to teach effectively.
