Applications are invited to the above roles to work in the research group of Principal Investigator (Dr Mary J. O’Connell) conducting research in the area of Computational and Molecular Evolution. The post holders will be expected to undertake their specific research project as well as working as part of a dynamic team. The roles involve assessing and applying appropriate approaches, methodologies and techniques to the research projects, as well as developing software and new methods. The role holders will be responsible for writing up their work in order to contribute to publications and future grant proposals.

The role holders will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to develop research methods and extend their research portfolio.
Candidates must hold a PhD or be near to the completion of a PhD or studying towards a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area. Candidates must be proficient in at least one programming language e.g. Python, C, Java.

Candidates must have excellent skills and knowledge of Molecular Evolution and Phylogenomics. Candidates must be able to demonstrate evidence of developing research skills with the ability to creatively apply relevant research approaches, models, techniques and methods.

The ability to contribute to method improvement and facilitate conceptual thinking, innovation and creativity is key to this role.

These full-time positions will be offered on a fixed term contract for a period of 2 years. Job share arrangements may be considered.
