The Helmholtz-Institute Mainz (HIM) is a joint institution of the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz (JGU) and the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research GmbH in Darmstadt. The Helmholtz-Institute Mainz combines the expertise of the Institute of Physics, Institute of Nuclear Physics, and the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry at the University Mainz with the GSI in Darmstadt to study the questions of structure, symmetry, and stability of matter and antimatter. HIM is located on the campus of the University Mainz and consists of 6 independent research divisions: Theory Floor, Electromagnetic Processes, Hadron Spectroscopy and Flavour, Symmetry of Matter and Antimatter, Superheavy Elements, Accelerator Physics and Integrated Detectors.

Completed vocational training as an electrician/electrical installer in the field of energy and/or building services engineering is mandatory. Knowledge of mechanical engineering and plant construction as well as extensive technical knowledge are advantageous. Several years of professional experience and good technical knowledge are expected, as well as physical strain (especially for lifting and carrying loads under superstructures and at heights and in confined spaces) and independent and autonomous team work. We presuppose the possession of a valid class B driving license and the willingness to work occasionally even outside of regular working hours, e. g. in the evening and on weekends. In addition, you should have knowledge of new media.

Your area of responsibility includes, among other things, the following:

Inspection and operation of the operating circuits, building control systems and machine systems of the HIM's large-scale experimental equipment, as well as the MAMI microtron in Mainz and the later MESA accelerator system.Independent line installations in the low-voltage range in the experimental and computer areas of the experimental halls and the laboratories of the HIM.Development, construction and testing of control systems. Connecting small and large magnet systems and their power supplies, including associated equipment safety systems and testing. Building setups/instrumentations for the different research projectsControl and operation of operating circuits and machinery and large experimental equipment (low-voltage distribution, etc.)Accompaniment of maintenance and repair work by external companies including monitoring, documentation of work steps, repairs and modifications as well as the forwarding of faults and defects to the property manager.Collaboration in the development of refurbishment, maintenance and upkeep concepts

We offer permanent employment for this position, the salary is based on the TVöD (Bund) collective agreement in force at GSI.
