Postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Cellular Biophysics (the Männik Lab). The work focuses on understanding coordination between chromosome replication/segregation and cell division in E. coli. The research also addresses a question on how bacterial nucleoid and cell division apparatus are organized.

This interdisciplinary NIH funded research combines high and super resolution microscopy, quantitative image analysis, molecular biology methods and modelling of cellular processes. An important aspect of our work is development of nano/microfabricated fluidic devices for live cell studies that allow implementation of different physical and chemical stimuli to the cells. Fabrication of these devices will be carried out in nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the successful applicant will participate in this work. Previous experience in all aforementioned areas is not necessary but the applicant should be enthusiastic about learning new methods and techniques, and collaborating with others.
