Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Pulsed Fields

Condensed Matter Physics, University of Oxford

Oxford, South East England, United Kingdom

Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Pulsed Fields. The post is available for a fixed-term duration of 1 year.

This project will use high magnetic fields generated by the Oxford Pulsed Magnetic Field System to study the properties of quantum materials. The successful candidate will carry out experiments using the Oxford Pulsed Field System and work with the team to fully commission the system and document it. They will carry out experiments at low temperatures and in high magnetic fields.

Tasks will include carrying out independent experimental work, managing, planning and prioritising research activities, and publishing journal papers. The postholder will have the opportunity to teach.

Applicants should hold, or be close to completion of a doctorate in physics or a related field and ideally a strong background in experimental condensed matter physics. Previous experience in the use of high magnetic fields and cryogenics will be an advantage.

Please direct enquiries about the role to Professor Paolo Radaelli and Professor Stephen Blundell (paolo.radaelli@physics.ox.ac.uk or stephen.blundell@physics.ox.ac.uk).

You will be required to upload a statement of research interests, CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
