In the context of this project (preferably within the framework of a doctoral thesis) your tasks include the:Development of a hybrid approach to combine LCA and energy system models considering the effects of changes in the energy system in LCA (for example, changing industrial processes such as in steel production) Linking of existing LCA databases to an energy system model and re-integrating of the results into the LCA Presentation of your results on national and international conferences
Methodological challenges include the dynamic adaption of the electricity mix used in the upstream chains, the avoidance of double counting of emissions from the upstream chains of energy conversion or the Integration of the results of the energy system modelling into the LCA.
Your Profile:(Very) good university degree in mechanical Engineering, process Engineering or Business Administration and Engineering each with a focus on energy technologies or in a comparable degree Programme Knowledge in the field of LCA and/or energy system modelling Interest in energy Technologies and the future developement of the German energy system Basic knowledge in Phython is welcome Willingness to support the acquisition of third party funding projects Excellent skills in spoken and written English Ability to work in a team, commitment and resilience High flexibility and willingness to carry out business trips
