The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a

Professorship (W2) (6 years/tenure track) of Dermatology and Venereology with main emphasis on Dermato-Oncology

commencing as soon as possible.

The professorship is located at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy at the University Hospital of LMU Munich.

The position will represent the field of Dermato-Oncology as part of Dermatology in academic teaching, research and clinics with national and international visibility. A major focus will be on laboratory and translational research in melanoma and other types of skin cancer including clinical and scientific questions in the field of diagnostics, molecular biology, immunology, and medical care. The position is combined with the responsibility for the skin cancer center in close association with the Comprehensive Cancer Center of LMU Munich and the responsibility for the medical care of all skin cancer patients in the Department of Dermatology.

LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic clinician-scientist to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree and a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification. With an excellent record in clinics, research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career. Further prerequisites are internationally excellent scientific publications in the field of Dermato-Oncology, successful acquisition of external funding and a board certification in Dermatology and Venereology as well as medical tumor therapy. Of special interest is profound knowledge of non-invasive diagnostics, molecular pathology and cellular biology.

The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.
