As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.
Size is a fundamental cellular property that is not only tightly linked to cell function and growth, but also sets the scale of all intracellular processes. We take an interdisciplinary approach and use live-cell microscopy, cell biology, and mathematical modelling to address the following questions:How do cells coordinate growth and division to control their size? How does cell size determine biosynthetic output? How is cell size coordinated with organelle homeostasis and subcellular structure formation?
The research group of Dr. Kurt Schmoller at the Institute of Functional Epigenetics is now looking for aPhD student in quantitative cell biology (f/m/diverse)
The successful candidate will design and characterize methods for different projects regarding yeast genetics and will utilize live-cell microscopy to work on RNA quantification.
