Digital Content Developer: This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for science, strong writing skills and a flair for storytelling in the digital space. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Proactively seeking and developing new and feature stories throughout the institution, covering research, education and other institutional activities and priorities. Working with subject-matter experts in Public Affairs and across CSHL to identify compelling stories and how to tell the stories to the appropriate audiences using the best medium (web, video, materials/website, traditional media, social media etc.). Translating both institutional news and complex scientific information into messages and communication formats that are understandable and accessible to a variety of audiences both internally and externally, using all available media and distribution channels. Creating primarily digitally delivered content including, but not limited to, feature stories, event stories, personality profiles, blogs and interactive web features. Working collaboratively with the Public Affairs team to determine and utilize best methods/communication formats that are understandable and accessible to a variety of audiences both internally and externally, using all available media and distribution channels. Working as part of a social media team to gain exposure for and leverage the impact of multimedia/digital content.
Editorial Content Manager: Play a new and crucial role guiding content development of the external communications team for a leading life science research and education institution, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). We are looking for an editorial content manager with scientific expertise and an eye for current trends, who is skilled at developing editorial themes and story angles based on trending topics and institutional priorities. The editorial content manager will need to staying current with scientific developments at CSHL and in the Life Sciences, using this background to uncover story opportunities at the Lab with the greatest potential for engaging the non-scientific public outside of the institution, from local neighbors to national opinion leaders, and international philanthropic organizations.
