The Berlin-based MAX DELBRÜCK CENTER FOR MOLECULAR MEDICINE (MDC) is a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers, supported by the Federal Government of Germany and the Land Berlin. MDC is one of the world-leading research institutes for molecular biology and genetics, with a focus on translational approaches to develop treatments for neurological diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic diseases. Program Coordinator

Applications are invited for an exciting and challenging position as Program Coordinator for the Int. PhD Program at MDC. As PhD Program Coordinator, you will join in a small, dedicated team involved in all matters relevant to promotion, training and recruitment of early-career scientists at the MDC. With 400 PhD researchers from more than 40 countries the program is embedded in an international, highly dynamic and team-oriented environment.
The PhD Program Coordinator will be involved in a wide range of managerial tasks focusing on the successful management and implementation of recruitment and marketing for the Int. PhD Program, as well as organization of general training opportunities and integration of diverse activities on the new Campus site in Berlin Mitte.

Your tasks will include:

  • Organization of the bi-annual recruitment including the organization of assessment weeks
  • Development and implementation of measures to increase the visibility of the Graduate School
  • Conception and promotion of scientific events
  • Acting as advisor to faculty and students
  • Design, maintenance, and administration of the program and application webpage
  • Development and coordination of national and international collaboration activities including the contact with undergraduate programs
  • Conception and implementation of marketing measures
  • Representation of the Graduate School with local and international partners, at conferences and career fairs
  • Application for funding at national and international programs

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive person with background (PhD) in life sciences, higher education and/or international relations and interest in science management in a highly international context. You are an excellent team player with ability to work independently, you are flexible during peak times and show problem-solving attitude while paying attention to detail. You should enjoy and be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of professionals (students, researchers, group leaders, administrators, support staff). While working as part of a team, you also enjoy taking over responsibility for your focus area and be able to represent the program to external and internal partners.

An excellent command of the English language is a prerequisite, as well as a good knowledge of German. Strong IT skills (CMS and databases) and former experience of grant writing are of advantage.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in graduate education, science -, or project management, especially if carried out in an international setting or demonstrating international mobility.

The initial contract will be for a two years period with the option of extension. Salary is according to the German TVöD E 13.
