Salary: Grade 8: £40,792 - £48,677 p.a.
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Bioinformatics Systems Administrator to join the Oxford Biomedical Data Science Training Programme (OBDS) within the MRC WIMM Centre for Computational Biology. The role of the post is: (i) to manage and maintain computational systems including a Linux cluster, (ii) to install, configure and maintain bioinformatics applications, (iii) to provide IT support and training for OBDS staff and training fellows.
The role may suit candidates seeking to develop skills in high-performance scientific computing or those interested in playing a role in a cutting-edge computational training programme. You will also have the opportunity to be involved with the research and software development within the Centre for Computational Biology.
You will be an enthusiastic team-player educated to degree level or equivalent, with demonstrable experience in Linux systems administration. You will have experience of installing scientific software and process excellent communication and interpersonal, including experience in supporting system users. An interest in bioinformatics/computational biology and experience in installing or using bioinformatics applications using Conda are desirable.
The position is available fixed-term for 3 years, funded by a Wellcome Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) Award and the OBDS Training Programme.
