As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.
The Helmholtz Association and the Helmholtz Zentrum München jointly support the spin-off project Theraselect. The aim of the spin-off project is the development and application of new diagnostic and pharmacological tests to improve the treatment of cancer patients. As an innovative analytical technique the focus is on high-resolution imaging mass spectrometry which enables unprecedented visualization of drugs and therapy-relevant molecules in tissue samples.

Job DescriptionDevelop and implement new bioinformatic, computer-aided methods for automated data analysis in high-resolution imaging mass spectrometryDevelop and establish software pipelines for quality control, processing, unsupervised machine learning as well as pathway and network analysis of metabolomics dataIdentify molecular biomarkers and correlate them with clinical dataDevelop decision support systems for a stratifying medicineEvaluate and communicate the results achieved during project-internal meetingsSupport strategic product development based on customer feedback
Your QualificationsPhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics or a comparable degree programExperience in the analysis of -omics data of biological high-throughput methods; experiences in dealing with data of high-resolution mass spectrometry (qualitatively and quantitatively) or metabolomics data is desirableFluency in the programming of MATLAB, R or Python with focus on workflow automation/analysis pipeliningGood teamwork, excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsYou have an entrepreneurial spirit and a good understanding of business contexts and marketsFluent English and German skills complete your profile

Our offer initially includes a short-term employment contract until 31.12.2019 with a standard public salary (TV EntgO Bund) and the possibility to prolong the contract.
