The Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position at the ranh3. Heading text here…k of Assistant Professor, Experimental Quantum Information Science and Technology.

Applicants must possess a PhD in Physics (or equivalent) at the time of appointment. Successful applicants must be enthusiastic about contributing to teaching and research, and demonstrate the potential to excel in both. Postdoctoral experience and a record of high-quality research publications are expected. Evidence of strength in teaching practices, activities, and responsibilities is a strong asset.

Applicants are sought in the area of experimental quantum information science and technology. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research program aligned with the University of Calgary’s Eyes High vision, and to provide high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. They will actively recruit and supervise graduate students. Peer-reviewed external funding is expected to be obtained and sustained. Industrial partnerships are also encouraged, as appropriate.

Recently ranked #1 among young universities in Canada, the University of Calgary has significant ongoing research activities associated with our internationally known Institute for Quantum Science and Technology (IQST). One particular area of strength is quantum optics, in which area we have recently recruited a new faculty member whose focus will be quantum networks. The present advertisement is intentionally broader; the successful applicant should be able to work in collaboration with other researchers in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and in IQST.
