We have an immediate opening for a (senior) Research Scientist with good working understanding of multi-dimensional pharmacokinetic models focusing on dermato-pharmacokinetics and PBPK-PD models. The successful candidate will assist with the development of systems pharmacology models and algorithms concerning dermal absorption and bioavailability within Simcyp Simulators. Candidates should have in-depth experience of literature data gathering, statistical data analysis and mathematical models development. Ideally, this should be in pharmacokinetics-, toxicokinetics- and/or pharmacodynamics-related areas. In particular, candidates should have hands-on experience in development and utilization of dermato-pharmacokinetic models. Hands-on experience with the experimental dermatology is an advantage.
The post will also involve research and development in physiologically based pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PBPK-PD) models in other areas including oral, ocular and inhalation drug delivery systems. Experience is required in the areas of drug product formulation development, oral/dermal drug delivery, biopharmaceutics, and bioequivalence study analysis and preferably in mechanistic absorption modelling. A systematic understanding of the impact of various factors (e.g. formulations, excipients, and physiological variables) on drug product characteristics is essential.
The post holder is expected to provide on-going customer support and education and training related to the use of the Simcyp Simulators and to act as tutor at Simcyp workshops. The post does not include laboratory or clinical work. The projects are scientifically challenging yet focus on solving practical issues relevant to modern drug development and hence collaborative work with pharmaceutical companies is part of the activities. All scientists are expected to participate in writing scientific reports relevant to their work under the guidance of our world-leading senior scientists within the group.
PhD (or equivalent experience) in pharmaceutical sciences or related fields;
Good working knowledge and understanding of modelling and simulation principles of physiological and biological systems and pharmacokinetics;
In-depth experience in literature data gathering and analysis;
Demonstrable communication skills, as evident by presentation at scientific meetings, and good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Working experience in dermal drug development;
Use of PBPK modelling in industrial setting and regulatory interaction;
Having some knowledge of in vitro experiments for dermal and oral absorption assessment;
Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals;
Awareness of R&D process in pharmaceutical companies
