We are a science communications company with a substantial client base in China. We are looking for a freelance editor interested in helping clinical and basic biomedical researchers prepare clear and logical stories about their work for submission to peer-reviewed journals. Unlike most editing companies, we are a “boutique” operation: rather than focus on gaining as many clients as possible, we focus on satisfying the diverse demands of our existing client base. This has enabled us to grow by word-of-mouth.
You have substantial experience writing research articles, you enjoy reading and writing about research and you pay strong attention to detail. You are willing to go well beyond purely language issues of style and grammar, to help scientists write linear, coherent, concise accounts of their work.
You would be paired with a senior editor who would train you to edit to our standards and then would act as a “second pair of eyes” for projects that you complete. You would receive a commission for every manuscript you edit. You would conduct your work via email, with telephone/Skype conversations with your senior editor as necessary.
• Strong written English ability
• Authorship of research articles in English for mid- to high-impact journals
• Postgraduate degree in clinical, biological or biomedical sciences (at least master’s, preferably PhD)
Ability to speak Mandarin or Cantonese would be an advantage.
Please send your CV and two representative publications (with explanation of your writing role in those papers) to firstname.lastname@example.org
