Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Biomedical Imaging – Carano Lab
The Biomedical Imaging Department at Genentech invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position in quantitative magnetic resonance imaging and molecular imaging. The position will broadly focus on the application of biomedical imaging to the study of structural, microstructural and physiological characterization of the disease processes and alterations associated with therapy. The areas of potential projects for this position will include the study of tumor immunology and tumor immune cell infiltration by multi-parametric MRI methods (ex. immune cell labeling/trafficking, perfusion, diffusion, and targeted contrast agents). Data analysis methods will focus on the application of pattern recognition/machine learning techniques to analyze these multi-parametric data sets. Research activities will be to focus on MRI applications, although other imaging modalities will likely be employed to provide complimentary information. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MRI, physiology, data analysis methods, and a keen interest in applying in-vivo imaging to address specific biological questions related to our internal research programs.
Who You Are
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline, such as bio/biomedical engineering, biophysics, or physics. The candidate should have demonstrated excellence in the field of in-vivo pre-clinical MRI, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and productivity during their Ph.D. studies. Strong experience with MRI is required. Software experience with high-level programming languages (C++, Python, IDL, MatLab, etc.), data analysis packages (Analyze, JMP, R, etc.) and pattern recognition/machine learning methods is expected. In addition, a strong background in targeted nanoparticles and in-vitro cell labeling techniques will be helpful to succeed in this position. Additional experience with in-vitro and in-vivo biological techniques is desired.
The Biomedical Imaging Department is a dedicated, state-of-the-art research facility that includes MRI (7T and 9.4T systems), micro-CT (in-vivo and ex-vivo), ultrasound, micro-PET, micro-SPECT/CT, and various optical imaging techniques.
