Liver Regeneration and Cancer
Competitive Salary (range £31,334 – £51,113 depending on experience)
The Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe’s leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development that is focused on the understanding of cancer metabolism, invasion and metastasis. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies, with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics, and in vivo models.
A central vision of the Institute is to focus on the application/translation of our research in the clinical environment, whilst continuing to conduct cutting edge basic research to understand the mechanisms of cancer. To help realise this vision and to deliver on a major CRUK accelerator award we are expanding our development and interrogation of genetically engineered murine models of liver cancer – hepatocellular carcinoma.
We have a vacancy for a Principal Scientific Officer with experience of project and lab management and expertise in interrogation of in vivo cancer model systems. You will also be required to oversee laboratory operations and facilitate collaborative activities within the laboratory and other institutions. In addition, you will assist and train staff in the appropriate use of the model systems and analytical platforms.
You will have a relevant degree or PhD, with a record of significant research experience using in vivo, cell and molecular biology techniques, and excellent organisational skills. Previous experience of lab management and liver tumour research is desirable but not essential.
