PCoMS project at Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University has been supporting activities in the field of computational materials science aided by high-performance computation technologies. There is a job opening for 1 or 2 postdoctoral researchers who will work with PCoMS project staffs.
Number to be admitted：1 or 2 Postdoctoral researchers （Tohoku University promote gender equality. Please check Website. URL: http://www.bureau.tohoku.ac.jp/danjyo/ )
Organization: Professional development Consortium for Computational Materials Scientists (PCoMS), Institute for Material Research (IMR), Tohoku University
Research field and Desired researcher : PCoMS project seeks one or two postdoctoral researcher(s) working at IMR. The successful candidate(s) is going to carry out computational studies on material science, physics and/or chemistry with one of the category as follows:
Category A: The successful candidate will carry out theoretical studies on the photochemistry and photophysics of photofunctional materials (molecule, solid etc.) using advanced electronic structure theories and reaction dynamics simulations. Experiences on photofunctional systems and/or chemical reactions in material science, condensed matter physics, AMO physics, and/or physical chemistry are considered as asset. Mutual communication skills for the interplay with experimental collaborators are desirable.
Category B: The successful candidate will carry out computational studies of liquids and soft matter using classical molecular dynamics simulation. Topics will include thermal, mechanical, and dynamical properties of glasses or physicochemical properties of electrolyte liquids at interfaces. His/her will also be involved in development of framework software that facilitates massively parallel molecular simulation to directly access the mesoscopic properties from molecular level. Experience in parallel simulation coding is an advantage for consideration.
Qualifications: Applicant must have a Ph.D. degree at the moment of employment.
Starting date: At the earliest possible after January 1, 2019.
Employment status: Full-time, Non‐tenured, Up to March 31, 2020.
