The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology in the College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a faculty position in fungal biology with an expected start date of July 1, 2019. This position may be filled at the tenure track Assistant Professor level or the tenured Associate Professor level. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
We seek an individual who is on track to develop an internationally recognized, extramurally funded research program in fungal biology addressing fundamental questions in any area of the field including, but not limited to: ecology, evolution, plant-microbe interactions, disease ecology, molecular biology, functional genomics, or cell biology/physiology. We are especially interested in candidates whose research combines experimental approaches using modern techniques and analytical methods to test theory or elucidate mechanisms within filamentous fungal systems, and who will be able to contribute to teaching within the area of fungal biology. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative group of faculty whose research spans diverse areas of biology including fungal biology, plant-associated and environmental microbes, applied microbiology, algal biology, and virology in the Department of Plant & Microbial Biology (http://pmb.berkeley.edu/), and the Graduate Group in Microbiology (http://pmb.berkeley.edu/ggm/faculty).
