A research support position is available in the James lab at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB). We use multi-disciplinary approaches to address fundamental questions in health. You will join a highly integrated and motivated team with diverse skills and expertise across molecular biology. You will capitalize on our discovery of the cytosolic antibody receptor TRIM21 to help determine the molecular basis of its function and regulation. You will also help guide our ongoing development of ‘Trim-Away’ technology, which exploits TRIM21’s unique ability to perform rapid and specific protein depletion. Candidate requirements
You should have a good undergraduate degree in biology, biochemistry, biophysics or chemistry (or other relevant subject) and some experience of laboratory research. An ability to work independently on dedicated projects is important but also the ability to provide support and become involved with collaborative projects in the lab.
Less experienced candidates will be appointed at Research Assistant level; candidates with substantial laboratory-based experience may be appointed at Research Officer level. This preferably a full time position (36 hours per week) however part time working will be considered for the right candidate for a minimum of 3 days per week (21.6 hours per week).
