The Department Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) (http://www.vetmed.ufl.edu/) is seeking highly qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor. Applicants are sought whose research interests and expertise will complement existing departmental research strengths in infectious diseases of animals and humans including pathogen biology and host/pathogen interactions, inflammation and immunology, animal models of disease, molecular genetics, and vaccine development and therapeutics. Candidates with interests in zoonotic and/or emerging diseases or in translational research are of particular interest. Women and minority candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) degree or combined degrees (DVM/PhD) and advanced training, including postdoctoral research experience, in the relevant discipline(s). A strong research record with clear promise of growth and evidence of leadership is essential. Current funding is desirable but not a requirement. Primary responsibilities for this position include 1) development of a vigorous, independent research program supported by extramural funding, 2) engagement in collaborative research across the CVM and UF, and 3) participation in the teaching and training of graduate and professional students in the department and college.

The CVM is part of the UF Health Science Center which houses six health-related colleges (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health & Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine). The collaborative environment at UF is also enriched by the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Clinical Translational Sciences Institute, the One Health Center of Excellence, the CDC Center of Excellence in Vector Borne Diseases, the Center for Inflammation and Mucosal Immunology and numerous other Institutes and Centers.
