The Sr Health Professions Educator - Clinical Lab Sciences designs and provides didactic and clinical training and mentoring for educational programs in Clinical Laboratory Science. Perform procedures using analytical methodology in a student laboratory setting in the Clinical Laboratory Science Program of the School of Health Professions.

Instruction of SHP Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) students

Designs and provides didactic and clinical training and mentoring in the CLS program. Participates extensively in didactic instruction. Prepares laboratory tests and assist in clinical laboratory techniques ensuring institutional policies and processes are adhered. Creates effective lesson plans and supervises student participation in didactic and laboratory courses. Documents the teaching/learning processes and outcomes in accordance with standards and evaluates students' education to include competencies, presentations and clinical hours.

Educational coordination for SHP CLS students

Works with CLS program director to coordinate clinical rotations and evaluate content needed in each clinical area. Prepares class exercises, quizzes, interval exams, final written and practical exams and comprehensive final exams to evaluate student knowledge. Collaborates with program directors, education coordinators and faculty to plan and evaluate educational curriculum. Provides presentations and publications to educators, students and peers. Integrates knowledge of accreditation standards, principles of CLS instruction standards and current professional practice standards in the design of educational programs.

Administrative coordination for SHP CLS students

Participates in the evaluation of program effectiveness. Timely ordering of course supplies and equipment for cost savings. Participates in candidate interview process. Participates in faculty/staff meetings and committees and at least one ad hoc committee. Provide strategic assessment of future SHP programs needs and planning. Other duties as assigned.


Required: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: Master's degree.

Required: Three years of relevant experience. May substitute additional experience for required education on a one to one basis.

- 5-7 years of current/recent Microbiology clinical laboratory experience.
-Teaching experience in a NAACLS accredited program
- Experience with learning management systems
- Experience with molecular technology
- Experience with hematology
- Must be MLS ASCP certified.
