Research Fellow-Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, Bioinformatics or Data Science
The appointment will full time and will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,328- £42,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
Applications are invited for a three-year position at University College London based in the Centre for Translational Genomics led by Professor Aroon Hingorani funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative, BigData@Heart Award ( https://www.bigdata-heart.eu/ ) .
The appointee will join an exciting programme of work investigating the causal biology of heart failure and will have a leading role in the analysis team of the HERMES Consortium for heart failure genomics (http://www.hermesconsortium.org/ ).
The Centre for Translational Genomics hosts an internationally recognised team with strength across the disciplines of genetic epidemiology, drug target discovery and validation, clinical cardiology and electronic health records research, forming an important component of UCL’s contribution to Health Data Research UK ( https://www.hdruk.ac.uk/ ).
The main duties and responsibilities of this post is to Investigate the genetic evidence supporting existing disease hypotheses and therapeutic targets for heart failure using Mendelian randomisation and other genetic based approaches and Lead collaborative genome-wide association meta-analyses of heart failure sub-phenotypes, including progression and survival phenotypes.
This post is funded for 3 years in the first instance.
The post would suit an individual whose background is in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, bioinformatics or clinical data science and with expertise in two or more of these areas. Experience in the analysis of sequence data, and the application of complex statistical models or statistical learning approaches would be advantageous. The post holder will be motivated and resourceful, an effective independent worker, and a collaborative member of an international multidisciplinary team.
