NTU-Singapore: Research Fellow (Post-doc) Position in Solid State NMR on chromatin
A post-doctoral Research Fellow position is open at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), School of Biological Sciences, in a team headed by Lars Nordenskiöld in collaboration with Konstantin Pervushin (http://www.sbs.ntu.edu.sg/aboutus/Faculty/).
The position is funded by a grant “Solid-state NMR study of heterochromatin maintenance by HP1 protein at telomeres”. The goal of the research is to develop and use the latest advances in solid-state NMR techniques to study chromatin structure, dynamics and biomolecular interactions (Xiangyan Shi, Chinmayi Prasanna, Toshio Nagashima, Toshio Yamazaki, Konstantin Pervushin and Lars Nordenskiöld, Structure and Dynamics in the Nucleosome Revealed by Solid-State NMR, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 57,9734 –9738, 2018). The project focuses on telomeric nucleosomes and telomeric chromatin fibres in solid precipitated form to elucidate the roles of HP1 binding.
The applicant should have a PhD from renowned University in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biophysics, or Physics.
- Proven track record in high-resolution biomolecular and preferably solid-state NMR.
- Highly advanced knowledge in NMR spectroscopy and preferred experience with modern solid-state NMR.
The candidate must have a passion for and strong interest in basic research applied to biological problems and disciplined with an aptitude for team work. NTU is equipped with modern solid-state NMR instruments available in a new high field NMR facility including one Bruker 600 MHz and one Bruker 800 MHz spectrometer. We also have access to the advanced cryoEM instruments at NTU including a FEI 300kV Titan Krios and a FEI Tecnai Arctica microscope with the latest detectors to perform structural studies.
Please submit a cover letter with the names of three referees, along with your resume/CV to: Ms Fransisca Lavinia Halim: (ssNMRemail@example.com). The initial appointment will be for a period of 1-2 years, with the possibility of renewal. The salary and repatriation support depends on qualifications. The university offers attractive insurance and other staff benefits. The starting date is expected to be in the first half of 2019. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be informed.
