A postdoctoral position (2 years) is available in the laboratory of Dr. Francesca Aguilo (www.aguilolab.com) at Umeå University for a highly talented and motivated candidate willing to address fundamental questions in post-transcriptional regulation of RNA in connection with epigenetic regulation in breast cancer.
The research group investigates how epigenetic changes and aberrant RNA modification contribute to breast cancer progression as well as drug resistance. The successful applicant will combine cellular biology with state-of-the-art molecular biology approaches, including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, MeRiP-seq, CLIP-seq and other large-scale epigenomic and epitranscriptomic analyses, including single-cell RNA-seq. In addition, 2D and 3D cell culture models, patient samples as well as mouse transgenic models will be used to study the central RNA-based regulatory circuitry in breast tumorigenesis.
Qualification requirements and other desirable requirements
We are looking for a highly talented and motivated candidate with a strong background in molecular biology. Experience of working with breast cancer models is a plus. Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Candidates should have at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The applicant must be able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Focus will be given to the candidate’s potential to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
The application should include the following:
• A cover letter (max two A4 pages) with a summary of research interests and accomplishments
• Curriculum vitae (CV)
• Copies of relevant degree certificates and PhD thesis
• Contact information (name, address, telephone and e-mail) for three referees
The fellowship is placed at the Department of Medical Biosciences and is connected to the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine (WCMM) at Umeå University. WCMM in Umeå is part of a national plan for Sweden to regain its leading position in medical research (wcmm.umu.se).
