The Department of Chemistry at the University of Bonn brings together researchers in organic, inorganic, physical, theoretical and biochemistry. In this framework the Kekulé-Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry is looking forward to filling one
Junior professors are employed for a period of three years; an extension for another three years is possible upon positive evaluation. Subsequently, after a positive evaluation by the responsible committees of the University of Bonn, the transfer to a tenured W2-professorship is possible.
The professorship is intended to encourage independent research by outstanding young researchers, in analogy to the research groups of the “Max-Planck-Society” or the “Emmy- Noether-Program” of the German Research Foundation. The professorship is endowed with additional resources for personal and consumables of the Kekulé-Institute for Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. Professors are encouraged to supervise doctoral students. For an initial period, teaching obligations amount to four hours per week during semesters.
We are looking for young researchers holding a doctoral degree who are about to develop their own research agenda and who have already demonstrated their scientific excellence by relevant publications. Candidates should have some international research experience. German language skills are not required. However, a participation in Bachelor program is expected within the course of this professorship.
We seek candidates who fit into the broad spectrum of the Chemistry Department and the Kekulé-Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry.
The conditions of employment are according to § 36 Hochschulgesetz NRW.
The University of Bonn is committed to diversity and equal opportunity. It is certified as a family-friendly university and has a dual career service. It aims to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are under-represented and to promote their careers in particular. It therefore urges women with relevant qualifications to apply. Applications will be handled in accordance with the Landesgleichstellungsgesetz (State Equality Act). Applications from suitable individuals with a certified serious disability and those of equal status are particularly welcome.
The deadline for the application is November 30th, 2018.
Applications should be sent by email in as one pdf-file to the Chairman of the Department of Chemistry
