University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus

Aurora, United States

A NIH funded T32 postdoctoral fellow position (USA citizenship or USA permanent residency required) is available in the Shepherd laboratory (http://www.shepherdlaboratory.org) in the Department of Pharmacology and Pediatric Heart Lung Center at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora CO. The focus of the research program is the development and application of high-throughput 3D multiplexed molecular imaging to understand how endothelial progenitor cell programming is regulated in developing mammalian organs. We are particularly focused on vascular development in the brain and lung development in models of disrupted fetal development. The applicant will be responsible for the development and application of multiplexed RNA imaging assays using optical tissue clearing, light sheet microscopy, and machine vision to map spatial transcriptome of endothelial progenitor cells. The ideal applicant will have a biophysics, developmental biology, or molecular and cellular biology background with an interest in the spatial regulation of stochastic genetic regulation.
• Must be able to sustain prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in the laboratory environment.
• Must be willing to work with animal models.
• Must be willing to work in a standard research environment that may contain lasers, electronics, fumes, chemicals, liquid nitrogen, sharp objects, hazardous materials, tissue, and body fluids.
• Must be willing to work on multi-disciplinary projects with a biological emphasis.
• Funding for this position requires that the selected individual hold US citizenship or a US permanent residence.
