University of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine

Senior and Junior Faculty Positions, Center for Systems Immunology

The newly launched University of Pittsburgh Center for Systems Immunology is seeking exceptional faculty candidates to pursue research in the broad field of immunology as it interfaces with systems biology in all of its forms. Supported by resources including extensive faculties and training programs in the Departments of Immunology and Computational and Systems Biology, the Center will harness newly emerging experimental, computational and engineering approaches to analyze the immune system in health and disease, thereby facilitating its rational therapeutic manipulation. Early or mid-career Investigators with strong research accomplishments in Systems Immunology and/or Immuno-engineering will be considered for primary appointments in Immunology with a secondary in Computational and Systems Biology.

The Department of Immunology has an outstanding Immunology Graduate Training Program, program project grants, multiple relevant training grants and a robust seminar series, all of which support close interactions among basic, translational and clinical immunologists. The Department is rapidly growing and has newly renovated open lab space with outstanding infrastructure that includes flow cytometry and CRISPR-Cas9-mediated gene-targeting cores.

The Department of Computational and Systems Biology has an outstanding PhD Program in Computational Biology, jointly offered with Carnegie Mellon University. Faculty members have a broad range of research interests, including computational genomics, quantitative systems pharmacology, modeling and simulations of molecular-to-cellular systems, and big data analysis, and are involved in several multi-institutional, multidisciplinary research projects at the interface of quantitative and life sciences. The Department is rapidly growing and has both computing and wet lab space with excellent infrastructure.

The University of Pittsburgh is located in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, a safe, progressive, and affordable city with emerging technology in many spheres, that is well-endowed with cultural and public institutions and that is consistently ranked among the top most livable cities in the US and the world. The School of Medicine, together with UPMC, comprise an academic medical center with broad and deep strength, known for outstanding basic and translational research. The School of Medicine offers an exciting research community that presently ranks as the fifth highest funded by the National Institutes of Health. Startup packages, salary and benefits will be highly competitive.

The successful Assistant professor candidate will be expected to have well-conceived and original research directions, ideally with initial career development funding. The successful Associate/Full Professor candidate should have well-established research funding and programs. We specifically seek individuals who are innovating in and/or leading their field, regardless of particular specific area of interest.

Interested persons should send (preferably via email) a CV, brief description of research interests, and contact information for three references to Harinder Singh, PhD, Director, Center for Systems Immunology, University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, Room W1052 Biomedical Science Tower, 200 Lothrop Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15261.
