Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a global epidemic, with a reported worldwide prevalence of up to 25%, it is also the leading cause of cirrhosis and hepatocellular cancer.

The Foundation for Liver Research wishes to build on earlier work and in particular to foster innovative research studies aimed at targeting liver inflammation, the key driver of liver injury and disease progression, with a particular focus on the molecular mechanisms associated with the transition from liver steatosis to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.

Applications are invited from both early career Principal Investigators and more established Group Leaders. The Foundation would also consider the appointment of an active and established research group. The position will be based at the Institute of Hepatology, London, which is an interdisciplinary independent research facility based in a new state-of-the-art building on the King’s College London/King’s College Hospital campus in south east London at Denmark Hill.

Applications from early career Principal Investigators should demonstrate an excellent postdoctoral track record with the potential to develop a research programme. Those applying at Senior Principal Investigator/Group Lead level should in addition demonstrate experience of leading a successful research team and have an extensive publication record, as well as experience of securing research funding.

Positions come with significant research support including a fully equipped laboratory, staff and consumable funding. The salary will be competitive, depending on qualifications and experience.
